Pemilik Leicester City tewas dalam kecelakaan helikopter

Pemilik dan chairman klub bola Inggris Leicester City Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha dinyatakan tewas oleh Kepolisian Leicestershire dalam kecelakaan helikopter.

Tak hanya Vichai, helikopter tersebut juga ditumpangi oleh dua stafnya, Nursara Suknamai dan Kaveporn Punpare, pilot Eric Swaffer dan pasangannya Izabela Roza Lechowicz. Seluruhnya menjadi korban ketika helikopter yang mereka tumpangi berputar tak terkendali dan jatuh di Stadion King Power, Leicester, Inggris, pada Sabtu (27/10).

Helikopter tersebut jatuh di sekitar lapangan parkir dekat stadion pada pukul 20.30 waktu setempat, hanya selang satu jam setelah Leicester menahan imbang West Ham United 1-1 di Liga Primer Inggris.

Menurut keterangan lanjutan dari Kepolisian Leicestershire, tidak ada lagi korban jiwa selain kelima orang tersebut.

Vichai yang berusia 60 tahun meninggalkan empat orang anak termasuk Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha yang merupakan wakil chairman dari Leicester City.

Di bawah Vichai yang membeli klub bola Leicester City pada 2010 dengan harga 39 miliar pound sterling, The Foxes, berhasil meraih Liga Primer Inggris di 2015-2016.

It is with the deepest regret and a collective broken heart that we confirm our Chairman, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, was among those to have tragically lost their lives on Saturday evening when a helicopter carrying him and four other people crashed outside King Power Stadium. Both Tuesday’s First Team fixture against Southampton in the EFL Cup and the Development Squad fixture against Feyenoord in the Premier League International Cup have been postponed. Sebagai bentuk duka cita, Leicester akan menyediakan buku belasungkawa untuk keluarga besar Vichai dan terutama bagi suporter yang ingin menyampaikan penghormatan mereka.

Kegiatan penghormatan ini akan dimulai pada Selasa (30/10) pukul 08.00 waktu setempat di stadion kandang mereka, Stadion King Power. Para suporter yang tidak dapat mengunjungi Stadion King Power dapat meninggalkan pesan melalui buku belasungkawa yang tersedia secara online di situs resmi Leicester City.

Tak hanya itu, Leicester memutuskan untuk mengundur dua laga untuk tim senior dan U-23 mereka, yaitu pertandingan antara Leicester City Vs Southampton di babak 16 besar Liga Inggris yang rencananya akan berlangsung pada Rabu (31/10) malam dan laga U-23 Leicester City melawan Feyenoord di kompetisi Premier League International Cup Grup B pada hari yang sama.

Hingga kini, belum diketahui secara pasti penyebab kecelakaan tragis tersebut. Terlebih lagi, pilot Swaffer yang memegang kemudi memiliki lebih dari 20 tahun pengalaman terbang sebagai pilot helikopter dan jet pribadi. (BBC)
